Declassified Unicorn Ball Survival Guide

Hayyyy Unicorns,

We are officially one day out from the Unicorn Ball and everyone at VPS is absolutely buzzing! Online tickets have sold out and we’re very excited to welcome you to our first in-person signature event for the 2022 Pride season. If you weren’t aware, this event also acts as an important fundraiser for us at VPS. All funds raised go to supporting our Community Partnerships and Bursaries Program which enables 2SGBTQAI+ groups to create art, throw events, facilitate workshops, and more. We want to say thank you ahead of the event for helping us continue this important program.

Please have a look below for some information on what to expect from this fabulous Friday night!

Donations

The Unicorn Ball is an annual fundraiser for VPS’ Community Bursary Program. This allows VPS to redistribute funds to local grassroots queer-serving organizations. Donations to the bursary program will be accepted all night through multiple payment methods.

Event Schedule

We’ve prepared a talented line up of performers and entertainers for you! Whether you purchased a ticket for a night of wholesome activities, drag, and/or music, there’s something for everyone to be excited about (and of course all things unicorn!). Costume Contest

Unicorns can WIN BIG in the annual Unicorn Costume Contest, with prizes for the Most Creative, the Horniest Horn and Blessed Blessing (Group category up to 6). Ball attendees are encouraged to dress to impress for their chance at winning a Mac Cosmetics Gift Basket, tickets to upcoming Pride events and more! The costume contest is not the only way to win big; lucky raffle ticket winners will take home the Unicorn Gift Basket valued at $500, or $500 gift cards from Pacific Center and Cactus Club Cafe!

NO Glitter

Unicorns and glitter may go together like Pride and rainbows but listen up ponies, we all know what happens to glitter after a party. It never frikken leaves! And at the end of the night, if too many sparkle ponies shed their glitter around the venue, we get hit with a massive cleaning bill. So we are asking you to make good choices around your glitter use…or we might have to set a unicorn trap and set you to cleaning duty.

Cashless Venue

The venue is CASHLESS this year! We have a number of by-donation activities which we have set at low suggested donation starting points to ensure everyone can partake. Please give as much as you are able to help us raise funds! We will be accepting donations through multiple payment methods.

Don’t forget to pick up a raffle ticket from the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence. Tickets start at $1 for 1 ticket and go up to $20 for a tail length (40 tickets)! Our Grand Prize Raffle Winner will receive a $500 giftcard from Cactus Club Cafe AND Pacific Center! Our second runner-up will be going home with a giant gift basket ($500+ value) of unicorn swag courtesy of Winners /Homesense/Marshals If that isn’t a reason to get raffle tickets, we don’t know what is.

This and other upcoming Vancouver Pride events will be subject to B.C. Provincial Health Orders at the time. All attendees will be required to provide proof of vaccination upon entry to the event.

COVID-19 Protocols and Wristbands

We’re also going to be handing out coloured wristbands for attendees – a solution for social distancing!

  • RED means no contact and maintain six feet of distance
  • YELLOW means still being cautious about physical interaction
  • GREEN means contact is okay. Bring on the horn-fives and hoof shakes
