2018 Pride Guides Are Out!
May 25, 2020
2018 is the Year of the Queer, the Pride Parade’s 40th Anniversary, and a celebration of 40 Years of Drag! Our Pride Guide this year is a reflection of the milestones our LGBTQIA2S+ communities have fought for and achieved, the legacies we reflect on, and the initiatives we are revving up for! This year, we invited you to #BeYou, Bring ALL of you – this means coming with, recognizing, and celebrating all of you at all of our events.
Justin Saint, who is gracing this year’s cover, was excited to be featured on our premiere publication. He posted about it on Facebook saying:
“My family migrated from Manila to Vancouver in 2004. Adapting to Canadian life as an immigrant involved years of struggling to fit in. Made worse when I came out of the closet and ended up homeless. I dealt with rejection over my race, my sexual and gender identity, and the beliefs I had brought with me as an immigrant. But despite all the challenges, I was able to find people within Vancouver’s queer community who accepted me unconditionally. Who gave me the courage and resources to finish makeup school (LOUD Business, LOUD Scholarship Foundation), to get myself back on my feet, and to embrace my own identity.”
